Edmonton Police investigating after two children found dead in apartment

EDMONTON, AB — Edmonton police are investigating after two children were found dead in an apartment Wednesday evening.

Officers were called to reports of a woman who was assaulted in the area of 79 Avenue and 71 Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. When police arrived, they found a woman in distress, and suffering from serious injuries.

Three hours later, officers responded to reports of a man behaving erratically and allegedly breaking into a garage. At 73 Street and 80 Avenue. Police allege the man was a suspect in relation to the assault of the woman, and was arrested and taken into custody.

Following further investigation, officers returned to an apartment suite at 79 Avenue and 71 Street, where they found two children deceased.

Officers continue to investigate, and are not releasing any information at this point, but are  treating the deaths as suspicious.
