No injuries following Sunday’s derailment: CP

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Canadian Pacific Railway says it’s investigating after a small derailment in the Medicine Hat rail yard on Sunday.

Crews could be seen late Sunday evening working to move cars that had derailed in the yard.

CHAT News reached out to Canadian Pacific late Sunday and on Monday for information about the derailment. The company sent a statement shortly after 2 p.m.

“At approximately 8 p.m. local time on Dec. 2, six cars derailed at CP’s Medicine Hat yard,” the statement reads. “The derailed cars were not loaded with product. There were no injuries or public safety concerns.”

The company says they immediately dispatched teams to respond to the site to remove the derailed cars. The statement adds “the cause of the incident is under investigation.”
