Medicine Hat, AB – As the snow started falling and the weather became a little cooler, people were probably wondering what they could possibly do on the 1st of December.

Well, one event that offered warmth and a few smiles was the Something For Everyone Market hosted at the Cypress Centre

The two-day market featured 140 vendors and offered many different products such as hand-made toques and bath bombs.

One local vendor was Donna Wright. She said these events are so much more than just selling a product.

“I actually used to do these business ventures for myself personally,” she explained. “When we come to these events, it builds courage and also challenges us to grow as a person and manufacturer. The biggest thing for me is being able to help somebody out.”

Wright added that markets such as this build a family-like atmosphere.

“When we do markets like this, a lot of the same vendors are showing up and we’re like family. You definitely get that feel when you come here whether you’re a vendor or you’re simply shopping.”

Wright then continued on by saying we have some great talent hidden here in the Hat.

“We have a lot of single moms here who craft, who do home businesses, that are trying to support their family. Heck, there’s even single dads here. I mean, it’s incredible to see what this community is hiding.”

Event organizer Monica Kellis said not only is there local vendors, but there’s also some out-of-towners as well.

“We have businesses that come to this market from Alberta, B.C and Saskatchewan. Bringing the out-of-towners into Medicine Hat gives a variety to all the shoppers. That way, we support more home-based businesses and spend less time shopping online.”

Kellis then continued on by stating that residents of Medicine Hat are always supportive when it comes to these sorts of things.

“Hatters are so good for supporting local. They always want to come out and buy from their neighbors.”

If you missed this market, you’ll have one more opportunity tomorrow (Dec. 2nd) to attend. This will be the last Something For Everyone Market of 2018. The next market in the new-year falls on February 9th.
