Local daycare centre recognized by province

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A Medicine Hat day care centre has received recognition from the province.

Little Owl Learning Centre received a Minister’s Award of Excellence in Child Development on Friday during a ceremony in Edmonton.

The award was handed out in the team category, with Justine Mann, Jessica Lexvold, Jade Haslbeck, Allison Beck being named as recipients.

The awards, handed out by Danielle Larivee, Minister of Children’s Services., recognize child development workers for outstanding contributions in their field.

“I get to meet so many amazing childcare workers around the province, and see the life-changing difference they make for kids and their families,” Larivee wrote in a news release. “They inspire me and motivate me to work even harder for quality, affordable child care to be available to every Alberta family.”

The awards recognizes caregivers and programs that demonstrate excellence in the areas of innovative programming, inclusive practices, collaborative partnerships, leadership, promising practices, family/parent support, community building and continuous improvement. L

A total of 88 nominations were submitted.
