REDCLIFF, AB — Dave the cat in Redcliff has been the talk of the town for the last few days.

Redcliff residents have been worried sick about their unofficial mascot, as he’s been missing since Friday.

But as of Wednesday morning, Dave the cat has been found!

John Long, a business owner in Redcliff, heard loud meowing coming from a nearby building.

Dave’s a regular at his business, so he was the first kitty to come to mind.

“In the last couple weeks he seems to stop in every day or every other day,” says John Long, owner of Super Clean Auto Detailing and Car Wash. “He has a bite to eat, has a nap and then goes on his way.”

He posted on the ‘Everything Redcliff’ Facebook page and took action.

“I could hear this loud crying noise that sounded like Dave,” says Long. “Turns out he was locked in a building across the street. I didn’t find out for sure, but I had the owner of the building come and let me in and sure enough there’s Dave.”

Dave was scruffy, dirty and starving when he was found, so Long took him into his business, and gave him about four bowls of food.

His owners mother was there in about 15 minutes, and was ecstatic to see him, so she shared the news with the rest of the town on Facebook.

Once Redcliff residents found out, the post flooded with celebratory comments, thanking Long and everyone involved in the search.

Although Dave’s owner moved last week, he isn’t set to come back to Redcliff until Christmas, so the local celebrity will be sticking around for a little longer.

And in the meantime, just to be extra safe, Dave is under house arrest.
