SASKATOON, SK. — A judge in Saskatchewan has determined how the $15.2 million raised following the Humboldt Broncos bus crash earlier this year will be distributed.

Family members who lost a loved one in the crash will receive a $525,000 payment, while the 13 surviving players will receive $475,000. Both payouts include an interim payment of $50,000 which was approved in August.

The recommendations were made by a committee of five people, and were based on discussions with the families over the past several months, according to the Canadian Press.

The committee members are Olympic gold medallist Hayley Wickenheiser; Mark Chipman, chairman of True North Sports & Entertainment; Dennis Ball, a retired Saskatchewan Justice; Dr. Peter Spafford, who’s in charge of head and neck surgery at the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine; and Kevin Cameron, executive director of the Canadian Centre for Threat Assessment and Trauma Response.
