Edmonton, AB – While travelling back to Edmonton from Calgary by bus, the University of Alberta (U of A) Pandas Hockey team was involved in a minor vehicle accident early this morning.

The accident occurred just south of Leduc on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway.

Two student-athletes were transported to hospital with minor injuries and have since been released.

A statement issued on the U of A Pandas web-page read:

“The safety and well-being of our student-athletes is our only focus at this time, and we are working with the University of Alberta’s Dean of Students to ensure the necessary support for the student-athletes is available.”

The statement then continued:

“We are very thankful there were no serious injuries to our student-athletes or team staff, and we will ensure the well-being and health of our student-athletes before a makeup game is confirmed.”

Tonight’s game between the U of A Pandas and the University of Calgary Dinos has been postponed. The details of the makeup game will be released once they have been finalized.
