MEDICINE HAT, AB — 48 shots, all of which turned aside.

Yet, Medicine Hat Tigers goaltender Mads Sogaard calls it an easy night, thanks to how his players performed defensively in front of him.

The 6’7″ 17-year-old was a Swift Current Broncos nightmare on Saturday, collecting his first shutout of his WHL career. It came not four days after the NHL released its latest NHL Central Scouting ranks, listing the Danish twine-guarder with a B-rating.

Sogaard is the clear-cut number one rookie netminder in the WHL boasting a .930 save percentage and 2.48 goals against average in 11 games.

In fact, his save clip is second best in the league among goaltenders who’ve played in at least 10 games. Only Ian Scott of the Prince Albert Raiders has a better percentage at .950.

CHAT Sports caught up with Sogaard, along with Tigers assistant coach Joe Frazer, to hear how he’s been able to continue improving as the season’s gone on, and where he believes he stacks up when pinned against other top goaltenders.
