Schedule released for 2019 Western Canadian Baseball League season

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Western Canadian Baseball League has released its schedule for 2019.

The former Western Major Baseball League will see all teams play a total of 56 games during the season, with the final games of the regular season wrapping up in the first week of August. The first game will take place on May 25 with the Lethbridge Bulls taking on the Edmonton Prospects.

The change in schedule will give each team an extra four home games during the season.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks, who won the WMBL championship last year, begin their season on May 30th, hosting the Brooks Bombers at 7:05 p.m. The end the season hosting the Okotoks Dawgs on August 6.

As a result of the expanded schedule, the playoff format has changed to a best-of-three series, replacing the current best-of-five series. Playoffs will begin August 8th, wrapping up on August 17th.

The season will also feature an All-Star Game, which will take place July 7th in Edmonton.
