SWIFT CURRENT, SK – Sogaard was so-good for on Saturday night, shutting out the Swift Current Broncos with a 48-save performance to help the Medicine Hat Tigers get off the schneid.

Earning his first career WHL shutout, Sogaard held the fort for three periods while Ryan Chyzowski scored twice in Medicine Hat’s first victory in almost two weeks.

Looking to break their five-game losing streak, Ryan Chyzowski got Medicine Hat on the board under nine minutes into the first period with a wrist shot from the slot.

Chyzowski wasn’t done there however, as he fired home his second of the night short side on Joel Hofer five minutes later to double the Tigers lead to 2-0.

In the second period, both Sogaard and Hofer elevated their games as neither side budged offensively, giving Medicine Hat a two-goal lead entering the third period.

Sogaard and the Tigers defence was under siege in the final frame, staring down 20 shots from the host Broncos.

Swift Current had chance after chance to get back in the contest, but they couldn’t solve the titanic Dane between the Medicine Hat pipes.

Finishing off his night with 48 saves, it’s the second time Sogaard has stopped over 40 shots in one game this season.

Improving his record to 5-2-1-2, Sogaard now holds the third-best save percentage in the WHL at .930 over his 11 games.

Snapping their slump and winning their last game of an eastern road trip, the 10-11-1-2 Tigers have crept back into the third playoff spot in the Central Division with 23 points.

Enjoying almost a week off, the Tigers will return from their road trip on Friday night to face the nation’s top team in the Prince Albert Raiders at 7:30 pm.
