Brooks bringing back Toys for Tickets campaign

BROOKS, AB — The City of Brooks is bringing back a popular holiday initiative as a way for people to help pay off municipal tickets.

The Toys for Tickets campaign gets underway today. The initiative sees the city accepting toys in lieu of payment for municipal tickets in the town. The toys will be donated to local families through the ScotiaBank Smiles for Christmas toy Derive Campaign.

“We experienced a great response from the community with our Toys for Tickets campaign in the past and wanted to provide this program to the community again,” said Amanda Peterson, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer from Brooks, in a statement. “I’m hoping we experience another great response as the campaign lessens the financial difficulty of a ticket while supporting a great cause.”

Any ticket with a value of $57 or less issued between November 14 and December 10 is eligible for the program. A toy donation can be brought to City Hall, and will be accepted until December 14. Those with multiple violations will have to bring in multiple unwrapped toys.
