Medicine Hat Hounds win gold medal in Edmonton

EDMONTON, AB — The Medicine Hat Midget AA Hounds are coming back home with a gold medal after winning a hockey tournament in Edmonton on Monday.

During the final day of the 35th Annual Bill Kurucz Memorial Tournament, the Hounds won back-to-back games to win first place

The Hounds topped the host Edmonton CAC team 6-2 during their first game on Monday. Matthew Lafferty and Connor Miller scored two goals and one assist during the game. Brandon Kasdorf had one goal and three assists, while Ryley Manz had a single goal.

Nate Hoffman made 16 saves for the Hounds during the game.

The Hounds had to play in the gold medal game at 2:45 p.m., but were able to top the Strathcona Warriors 6-3.

Jacob Milne had two goals during the game, with Miller, Kasdorf, Kyden Moore and Cameron Hall adding the remaining goals for the Hounds.

The shots were 37-17 in favour of the Hounds. Teron Funk made 14 saves during the game.

The Hounds return to league play this weekend. On Saturday, they travel to Taber to take on the Golden Suns at 8 p.m., while on Sunday, they face the CRAA Blue at the Max Bell Centre in Calgary at 2:30 p.m.
