Lethbridge Police investigating sudden death after early morning fire

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police are investigating a sudden death at a downtown apartment building following an early morning fire.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire alarm at the Landmark building along the 500 block of 6 Street S at approximately 4:23 a.m. on Nov. 10.

Three stations and 22 firefighters in total responded, and crews managed to extinguish the fire, which was isolated to one unit. The body of one person was then located inside. 

Several occupants were initially displaced from the building due to extensive smoke.

Victim/Witness Services attended to assist, and all of the occupants have now returned to their homes with no other injuries reported. 

The investigation by Lethbridge Police and a Lethbridge Fire investigator is ongoing.
