CALGARY, AB — The owner of the trucking company involved in the deadly Humboldt Broncos bus crash made his first appearance in a Calgary courtroom.

Sukhmander Singh’s case was adjourned until November 30th, as he still needs to secure a lawyer.

Singh, the owner of Adesh Deol Trucking, was charged by the province for non-compliance with various safety regulations. The charges include two counts of failure to provide truck logs, three counts of failure to monitor the compliance of a driver under safety regulations, two counts of having more than one log for any day and failure to have or follow a written safety program.

One of the company’s trucks, driven by Jaskirat Singh Sidhu of Calgary, crashed into the Humboldt Broncos bus in April, killing 16 people on board.
