MEDICINE HAT, AB — A former member of the Medicine Hat Police Commission facing fraud charges is also facing an assault charge in an unrelated investigation.

Rolf Traichel has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, according to Medicine Hat provincial court. The date of the alleged offence was March 8, 2016, though the charge was filed on May 31, 2018.

Traichel served as a member of the police commission, including several years as chair, until 2017.
