Rebates still available for energy efficient improvements

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The city’s HAT Smart program is still accepting applications for the majority of programs offered this year.

The environmental initiative has been offering up rebates to residents since 2008.

It’s a chance for homeowners to put some cash back in their pockets after making upgrades and switching to energy efficient choices.

According to the HAT Smart website, rebates for solar panels are no longer being accepted.

It was something many in the city took advantage of early on.

“Solar, this year, was very popular and so for that reason we’re trying to have it come back again next year,” said Jass Baidwan with the city. “More information on that will be released, it’s just in the review process right now for our incentives coming up for 2019.”
