MEDICINE HAT, AB — The City of Medicine Hat is reminding residents that they have options to make payments in case rotating mail strikes come to Medicine Hat.

Rotating strikes have not been announced for Medicine Hat, however, Calgary and Red Deer both have had strikes occur since last week.

According to a news release, the city says it will not attempt to mail paper invoices during the first week of a possible service disruption, and adds residents are still responsible to pay their bills during any postal disruption.

The city says customers who want to ensure they receive their statements, balance and due date inquiries, they can sign up for eBilling online here, email customer_accounts@medicinehat.ca, call 403-529-8111, or do it in person at City Hall.

Other options for payment include setting up electronic funds transfers, phone or internet banking or dropping off payments in the After Hours Drop Box at the west entrance of City Hall. Payments can also be made in person at City Hall.

The decision to recommence mailing utility statements will be reassessed as more information regarding the length of the service disruption become available.

The city says they’re asking suppliers to consider registering for Direct Deposit. Those interested are asked to email accts_pay@medicinehat.ca for the forms.
