Pastor in Calgary placed on leave following sexual misconduct allegations

CALGARY, AB — A Catholic Pastor who worked at a number of parishes across southern Alberta as been placed on leave over allegations of sexual misconduct.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary announced this weekend Father Malcolm D’Souza was removed from his current position at the parishes of St. Bernard’s and Assumption in Calgary.

The allegations involved two minors and several adults, and are alleged to have occurred at St. Mark’s Parish in Calgary. D’Souza was pastor there from 2010-2016.

The Diocese of Calgary, in a news release sent on Saturday, say police have been contacted in accordance with the policy of the sexual misconduct committee of the diocese. Anyone with information about the allegations is being encouraged to contact police or the diocese.

The statement was announced at all weekend masses in every parish D’Souza has served. According to the statement, D’Souza has served as pastor at parishes in Lethbridge, Calgary, Milk River, Allerston, Claresholm, Nanton, Champion, High River, Vulcan and Calgary since 2002.
