MEDICINE HAT, AB — Although the Medicine Hat College Rattlers did not qualify for the provincial championship, two members of the team have been named to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference’s All-Conference teams.

Connor Ismond from the men’s team and Cassidy LaRochelle from the women’s team were named to the teams Thursday evening ahead of the ACAC Soccer Championships this weekend.

Ismond is a third-year student at the college, with a statement from the team saying he gave it his all in practice and throughout the season.

“He has been an example to his teammates with his commitment, focus and dedication and has led by example as the team captain,” said head coach Ian Tully in a statement. “He has been a major asset to the squad all season and given some players a level to aspire to. This award is well earned and thoroughly deserved.”

LaRochelle wrapped up her final season as a soccer player this year, and was also singled out for her hard work and positive attitude through the year.

“It is this awesome attitude and work ethic, that has proven to be invaluable to the team that this year is comprised mostly of rookies,” said head coach Stephen Newton in a statement. “Cassidy is the true embodiment of what a college athlete should strive to be. Hard working, driven and above all committed.”
