MEDICINE HAT, AB — Thousands of people went to pot stores across Alberta yesterday for legalization day.
Here in Medicine Hat it seemed to be no different.
The Green Exchange, Waldo’s 420 and Westside Weed all had lineups, but one store’s turnout nearly wrapped around the block.
People from every demographic and age group checked out the Green Exchsange on its opening day.
Although the owner originally though extracts would be more popular, most people had their eye on dried bud, with a couple of strains even selling out.
They won’t disclose any dollar amounts, but the store says it saw roughly 600 people come through the front doors.
“The demand is unbelievable, just slammed yesterday,” says Jay Hearn, owner of the Green Exchange. “Ten in the morning till seven at night, the lineup all the way down the street. It was pretty crazy yesterday.”
Despite the demand, the store says it should be all supplied for next week.
