Area residents to receive Medal of Bravery from Governor General

MEDICINE HAT, AB. — Governor General Julie Payette will award medals for bravery to several people from this area in a ceremony in Regina on Saturday morning.
 
Nelson Langridge of Burstall, Dennis Becker of Burstall, and Derrick Kozinski from Cut Knife, Saskatchewan will be honored for trying to rescue Langridge’s son from a grain hopper near Burstall in August of 2015.  Dennis Becker, the boy’s grandfather, also became trapped by the grain and both lost their lives.

Cole Marshall of Redcliff and Dr Angela Irvine of Medicine Hat will also receive a Medal for Bravery from the Governor General on Saturday, for their successful rescue of Irvine’s 3 sons from the South Saskatchewan River in Medicine Hat.

The awards will be presented at the RCMP Academy in Regina, and will be livestreamed starting at 10:30 a.m. CST at www.gg.ca/en/live.
