Police seize nearly $85,000 worth of cocaine and money, charge three people

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Three people have been arrested and charged after nearly $85,000 worth of cocaine and cash was seized by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team in Medicine Hat.

The arrests and seizure was made on October 12, with search warrants being executed at two residences. Police say one of the homes that was allegedly being used to sell drugs was located adjacent to an elementary school.

The investigation began last month after ALERT received a tip regarding alleged drug trafficking.

Police seized 647.1 grams of cocaine, 522 grams of a cocaine buffing agent, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine, 28 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, various weapons and $19,280 cash proceeds of crime.

As a result of the investigation, three people are facing numerous charges.

Curtis Rodin, 32, is charged with two counts of drug trafficking, and one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking, drug possession, possession of proceeds of crime and resisting arrest.

Leslie Lebel, 37, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and drug possession.

Kris Simons, 31, has been charged with four counts of drug trafficking, two counts of possession of proceeds of crime, two counts of breach of probation, and one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon.
