RAYMOND, AB — This Friday’s high school football game set for 7 p.m. between the Winston Churchill Bulldogs and the Raymond Comets will go ahead as scheduled.

After five members of the Raymond Comets high school football team, along with two others, were injured after a serious accident last Thursday near Magrath the Comets game against Catholic Central on Friday, Oct. 12, was cancelled.

Officials with the Southern Alberta Minor Football Association have confirmed that game will not be made up in the future.

The latest update on players who were seriously injured provided some good news.

Three of the five players who were in the westbound truck were taken to hospital in Calgary, one by EMS and the other two by STARS Air Ambulance.

Mason Stock and Jaxon Gruninger have made significant improvements, while Nate Dick, the third player who was the most seriously injured, is apparently not getting any worse in hospital.

RCMP are still investigating the crash.
