Police make arrest in Friday robbery

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat police say they have made two arrests in connection with a brazen robbery at a hotel restaurant on Friday.

The police service’s Major Crime Unit confirmed to CHAT Television Wednesday afternoon that Michael Mingo, 35, was arrested on Friday. The Medicine Hat man is facing charges of robbery and breach of conditions in connection with the robbery.

A second male was arrested on Tuesday, and is in custody. The man cannot be named until charges have been officially sworn against him.

Police were investigating after two suspects entered the Spice Hut, located inside the Travelodge Hotel, allegedly produced a firearm and stole cash.

Officers were on the scene of a home on 11th Street Northeast Wednesday afternoon executing a search warrant, with police saying the search was in connection with the robbery.

Police add more charges could be laid.
