Cancarb donates $15,000 to Medicine Hat College

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A local company announced on Wednesday it will continue to support students at Medicine Hat College for the next five years.

Cancarb presented a donation of $15,000 over the next five years during a presentation at the college on Wednesday.

The company produces carbon black, a strengthening agent found in tires or insulation.

The money will be used to create 15 scholarships at the college for students in the power engineering, business and university transfer science programs.

Cancarb has providing funding and support to the college since 1980.

“A significant percentage of our employees come from MHC,” says Ross Buchholz, vice-president, quality and development at Cancarb, in a news release. “We have graduates from programs like power engineering, information technology, science and business, so in essence, the college has helped build Cancarb and we appreciate their contribution.”
