CROWSNEST PASS, AB — RCMP in the Crowsnest Pass have laid charges against a Blairmore man who allegedly started a wildfire in the area last month.

Mark Daniel Foucault, 30, has been charged with arson in connection with a fire that was started on August 9 in the Crowsnest Pass.

The fire, which was started at approximately 1:30 p.m., burned four hectares in the area of Crowsnest Pass Hospital, and east toward the centre access to Blairmore. Nobody was injured, and no property was damaged as a result of the fire.

The Crowsnest Pass Fire Department reported the fire to RCMP on August 16. The RCMP’s Forestry Crimes Unit, along with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, handed the investigation.
