Man charged with fraud has case adjourned to October

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A former member of the Medicine Hat Police Commission who is facing fraud charges had his case adjourned another month.

Rolf Traichel, 45, is scheduled to have his case appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on October 9th.

Traichel was charged with fraud over $5,000, money laundering and possession of stolen property in August. It is alleged he defrauded the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education out of more than $1 million.

The alleged offences took place between 2010 and 2016.

Traichel served on the Medicine Hat Police Commission from January 2012 to December 2017.

Police began their investigation in January 2018.
