Mohawks trounce Colts, Vikings fall late to Brooks in season opener

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A convincing win for the Medicine Hat High Mohawks on Friday night, taking the first ‘Battle of Medicine Hat’ over the Monsignor McCoy Colts.

The Mohawks scored early and often in the opening half at the Methanex Bowl, picking up a 54-6 win over McCoy.

Winning their first game of the Rangeland Football Conference season, the Mohawks are set to face off against the Holy Trinity Academy Knights out of Okotoks next Friday.

As for the Colts, they are also on the gridiron on Friday and will go for their first regular season win of the season versus the Brooks Buffalos.

Meanwhile, it was tight affair between Brooks and the Crescent Heights Vikings earlier in the night, but it was a late touchdown that secured a 15-14 victory for the visiting Buffalos squad.

Crescent Heights led by scores of 7-6 and 14-9, but Brooks was able to drive the field in the final minute and score a late touchdown to hand the Vikings the loss.

Next up for the Vikings is an exhibition tilt on the road, travelling to Cardson next Friday for a date with the Cougars.
