EDMONTON, AB — Premier Rachel Notley announced on Thursday the province of Alberta will be pulling out of the Federal Climate Plan as a result of the decision on the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion.

The Federal Court of Appeal ruled against the expansion Thursday morning.

“This ruling is bad for working families and it is bad for the security of our country, the economic security of our country,” Notley said during a televised news conference. “Albertans are angry. I’m angry.

“Alberta has done everything right, and we’ve been let down.”

Notley says she is calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to appeal the ruling and call an emergency session of Parliament to resolve the issue.

“Until the federal government gets its act together, Alberta is pulling out of the Federal Climate Plan,” she said. “Let’s be clear. Without Alberta, that plan isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.”
