WATERTON LAKES, AB — Parks Canada has lifted an evacuation alert for Waterton Lakes National Park.

According to Parks Canada, rain has suppressed the Boundary Wildfire that is burning in Glacier National Park in Montana, allowing the alert in Waterton to be lifted.

Areas of the park which were closed on Friday as a result of the alert have now been re-opened, including all access to water bodies.

Parks Canada says the Boundary Wildfire remains active and is approximately 860 hectares in size, and they continue to work with Glacier National Park and other agencies to manage the fire.
