Preliminary hearing date set for former broadcaster charged with robbery
MEDICINE HAT, AB – A former broadcaster and journalism instructor from Winnipeg facing bank robbery charges in Medicine Hat had a date set for a preliminary hearing.
A lawyer for Steve Vogelsang appeared in Medicine Hat provincial court on Thursday, where a preliminary hearing date was set for November 27. The hearing will determine if there is enough evidence to go to trial.
Vogelsang, a former broadcaster with CTV Winnipeg, was arrested in Medicine Hat last October after a pair of alleged robberies on October 19 and 20 at branches of the Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal. He is facing two charges of robbery in connection with the incidents.
Police say in both incidents, a man walked into a bank, demanded a sum of money and fled the scene once he received it.
