Former Tiger Hunter Shinkaruk traded to Canadiens

CALGARY, AB — A former member of the Medicine Hat Tigers has been traded.

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Monday they had acquired Hunter Shinkaruk from the Calgary Flames after trading Kerby Rychel.

Shinkaruk, 23, spent the past season with the Stockton Heat, recording 32 points (17 goals, 15 assists) in 63 games with the Flames’ AHL affiliate. He has played in 251 AHL games with Stockton and the Utica Comets, scoring 75 goals and 149 points.

Shinkaruk played with the Medicine Hat Tigers from 2010-2013, scoring 106 goals and 130 assists in 211 regular season games.

The former Tiger was drafted in the first round, 24th overall, by the Vancouver Canucks in 2013. Since being drafted, Shinkaruk played a total of 15 games in the NHL with both the Canucks and Flames, recording four points (two goals, two assists).
