Goodnough wins Brooks byelection

BROOKS, AB — The City of Brooks will have a new councillor following a recent byelection.

The final vote totals from Friday’s byelection for a council position were released on Monday, with Joel Goodnough finishing in first place among the five candidates.

Goodnough finished with 246 votes, seven more votes than Reg Raedke. Final vote totals are below.

The city says 807 votes were cast during the byelection. The city called the byelection following the resignation of councillor Michael Glynn Macdonald in June. Macdonald said he was stepping down from the position for personal reasons.

Goodnough will be sworn in on Monday at 4:15 p.m.
