MEDICINE HAT, AB — For the fifth year in a row Riders for Halo have raised money for the rescue organization which serves southern Alberta.

On Sunday afternoon HALO Air Rescue was presented with a cheque for $120,360.

This is over triple the amount they had raised from last year.

It costs over a million dollars to keep the helicopter operational and the money raised will help with day to day operations.

Dale Thacker, HALO Chairman, was amazed by the amount raised and says the funds are invaluable.

“It’s huge. What can you say, these guys, these people have gone out and raised an incredible amount of money in one day. It’s like one-eighth or one-seventh of our yearly budget. This keeps us flying,” said Thacker.

Over the last five years Riders for Halo has raised $183,002 and they are already planning next years poker run.
