One dead, another injured in crash near Taber

TABER, AB. — A two vehicle crash on Highway 36 north of Taber Friday morning left one person dead and sent another to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened when an SUV and a truck, travelling in opposite directions, collided around 6:40 this morning.

The driver of the truck sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to the Taber hospital by HALO Air Rescue. RCMP said the victim died en route to the hospital.

The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital in Lethbridge with serious injuries.

The crash scene is between Township Roads 102 and 104 north of Taber.

Traffic was rerouted around the scene for several hours. Mounties along with a collision analyst are still investigating the circumstances of the crash. Highway 36 has since reopened.
