Medicine Hat to share provincial emergency funding

Edmonton, AB. – Medicine Hat is one of six Alberta communities that will receive provincial funding to help coordinate and train regional “all – hazards” incident management teams.

The teams will support local officials during times of disaster or emergency.The province says the teams will provide centralized command, allowing more effective communication and resource sharing across municipal borders.

Medicine Hat’s share of the 2.6 million dollar pie, will be 200 thousand dollars, spread over 4 years.
 
The rest of the money will go to Calgary’s Canada Task Force 2, as well as to High Level, Cold Lake, Red Deer County, and the Capital Region Emergency Preparedness Partnership Society.
