MEDICINE HAT, AB – Members of the United Conservative Party have selected their nominee for the Brooks-Medicine Hat constituency.

Michaela Glasgo finished in first place in the voting for the nomination, which took place over the past two days. The party confirmed the news on Twitter shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Dinah Hiebert was the only other nominee on the ballot.

A third candidate, Todd Beasley, was on the ballot until this past weekend, when the party disqualified him from the race due to social media posts featuring anti-Islam comments.

Glasgo, who is the press secretary for Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Drew Barnes, announced her candidacy in March.

Barnes was acclaimed by the party as the nominee in the Cypress-Medicine Hat riding.

Alberta will go to the polls next year.
