Fire restrictions in place across southern Alberta

CYPRESS COUNTY, AB — The warm weather has prompted several fire restrictions to be put in place across southern Alberta.

Fire restrictions were put in place in both the County of 40 Mile and the County of Vulcan last week. 40 Mile’s restriction went into place on July 9th, while Vulcan’s went into place on July 7th.

All permits were cancelled, and no new permits are being issued while the restriction is in place.

The only places fires are allowed are in approved campfire rings.

Cypress County has had its fire restriction in place since June 21st.

Late Tuesday afternoon, the City of Lethbridge also implemented a fire ban in the River Valley, due to the temperatures.
