MEDICINE HAT, AB — The jam-packed, energy-depleting regular season of the Western Major Baseball League isn’t slowing down the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

The WMBL’s best team put on another highlight-littered performance at Athletic Park on Sunday afternoon, connecting for five home runs in a 9-8 victory over the Fort McMurray Giants.

Two of those yard-balls came off David Vilches’ bat.

It was a career game for the Sheridan, AR product. However, when asked how he felt approaching the dish, he gave a surprising answer.

CHAT Sports caught up with Vilches following the game, along with 1B Sal Rodriguez and head coach Andrew Murphy to discuss the heat resonating off the Mavericks bats, and how the team plans on shutting down Brooks Bombers slugger Riley MacDonald on Monday, who recently set the league record for most home runs in a single season.
