MEDICINE HAT, AB — A local baseball player cracked the roster for the Canadian National Women’s Baseball Team this week.

Kaitlyn Ross, a member of the Medicine Hat K of C Knights, was among the 20 players selected for the team following tryouts in Montreal this week.

Ross, a graduate of Medicine Hat Little League, will join the team at the Women’s Baseball World Cup Championship later this summer, and is one of six players on the team playing in the tournament for the first time.

The tournament takes place in Viera, Florida from August 22-31, with Team Canada taking on Hong Kong to kick off the tournament. Canada is seeded second among teams at the tournament, and finished with a silver medal in the 2016 event.
