EDMONTON — The province is getting ready for the legalization of cannabis by signing supply deals with 13 licensed producers.

The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission announced on Thursday is had signed agreement with 31 licensed producers of cannabis for distribution and warehousing

Aurora Cannabis, who are currently constructing a new facility in Medicine Hat, were among the suppliers chosen.

The 13 companies were selected from 31 suppliers who submitted applications earlier this year.

The province adds Canada Post and Purolator will be responsible for the delivery of cannabis purchased directly from the AGLC. The commission says they will continue to engage additional producers based in Alberta as they become federally-licensed.
