MEDICINE HAT, AB — If you haven’t filled up your vehicle yet, you might want to do so quickly.

Gas prices have surged across Alberta, including in Medicine Hat, where several stations are selling fuel at 141.9 cents per litre.

The high fuel prices have been found at several Shell and Petro-Canada stations.

The lowest price in the city continues to be at Costco, where members are paying 124.9 cents per litre.

CHAT Television spoke with several people filling up their vehicles at Costco, who had a variety of opinions on the subject.

“I think they’re very high,” one woman said.

Although they haven’t yet impacted her driving, the woman said the prices are now on her mind when she’s in her vehicle.

“I think about it when I drive too far,” she said.

Another man waiting in line says he believes prices are too high.

“I guess they’re not too high compared to British Columbia, because I was just there and it was $1.63, but I holiday down south, where it’s half the price of here,” he said.

“I think they’re kind of crazy, I think it’s evidence of the economic situation here in our country,” said a third man driving a pickup truck. “But, I think it happens every once in a while, gas prices fluctuate, oil’s not the stable thing, so hopefully, I hope they go down.”

While prices are high across Canada (drivers are paying an average of 134.7 cents/litre), there’s some slight relief for drivers in Saskatchewan.

According to GasBuddy.com, the average price at the pumps is 124.2 cents per litre.

Many stations in Maple Creek are selling fuel for 124.9 cents per litre, while residents of Leader and Kindersley are paying approximately 123.9 cents/litre on average.

Swift Current drivers are slightly above the Saskatchewan average. Many stations in the city are selling fuel for 126.9 cents per litre.
