SUFFIELD, AB — CFB Suffield is beginning its next military training exercise on Thursday.

The British Army Training Unit Suffield is commencing with the exercise entitled Warrior’s Craft, which will run June 28 to August 7, according to a news release from the base.

The training exercises happen during the day and at night. Those who live, work or travel near the base may hear loud noises and see weapons effects, such as flashes of light, while the exercises are ongoing.

The base is reminding residents to not pick up any stray ammunition and explosive objects they may encounter in the area. Those who find an object they believe to be explosive are asked to call their nearest police service, who will make arrangements to dispose of the item.

During the exercises, soldiers could be required to cross the South Saskatchewan River. Those who wish to use the portion of the river that crosses through the base must contact Range Control at 403-544-4310 to find out dates which won’t conflict with training.

The news release also states CFB Suffield Fire Services and the Range Control Field Operations section are prepared to fight fires that may ignite in the training area.
