MEDICINE HAT, AB – Rain threatened Saturday’s second race day of the season at the Medicine Hat Speedway, but luckily for racers it was a green flag throughout the evening.

Races in three classes were held on Saturday at the track, with the Hobby Stock, Elite Street Stock, and IMCA Modified divisions being showcased.

In Hobby Stocks, Jonathan Rissling earned his first victory of the 2018 season, while Jake Sissions improved on his third place finish on opening weekend with a second place showing on Saturday.

Rob Gale brought up the rear with a third place finish, his first trip to the podium of the year.

Mitch Stovka was victorious in the second heat of the night in Elite Street Stocks and used that momentum to propel him to a first place showing in the finals.

It’s Stovka’s first win of the season after Terry Parr took the opening weekend, while Parr had to settle for silver, and Conor Hirch crossed the finish line in third place.

Wrapping up the evening, Steve Kundert was crowned victory in the IMCA Modified grouping over both Jason Martin and Ross Statham.

It was a top-three finish for all three drivers, after Jason Hardy, Curtis Bigelow, and Jason Woichichowski took the podium back in May.

Drivers will take a break for the upcoming long weekend with the next batch of races scheduled for July 7 at the track, with the Hobby Stock, Elite Street Stock, and Renegade Truck classes all running.
