DALLAS, TX – The Medicine Hat Tigers were shut out on the draft floor on Saturday, as the 2018 NHL Entry Draft wrapped up with the second day of selections.

None of Medicine Hat’s 17 draft eligible players were called at the American Airlines Centre, while it’s the first time the ‘Tabbies’ have been shut out in a draft since 2014.

Centreman Ryan Chyzowski was the most likely player to be selected after a 52-point season which saw him ranked 95th among all North American skaters.

The Kamloops, B.C. product will be put back into the pool for the 2019 NHL Draft, with the hopes of being selected his 19-year-old season like Zach Fischer a year ago.

Joel Craven also did not hear his name called, after scoring seven points in 33 games from the blueline in his first WHL campaign with Medicine Hat.

Other Tigers who will re-enter the draft next year will include James Hamblin, Gary Haden, Tyler Prezuiso, Hayden Ostir, Bryan Lockner, Elijah Brown, Cole Clayton, Dawson Heathcote, Baxter Anderson, and Trevor Longo.

However, Ryan Jevne, Jaeger White, Kristians Rubins, Dalton Gally, and Dylan MacPherson have now aged-out of NHL Draft eligibility.

Last year, Mason Shaw (Minnesota), Fischer (Calgary), and Jordan Hollett (Ottawa) were all drafted from the Tigers camp.

The Brooks Bandits weren’t able to equal last year’s draft success either, as they too were denied a pick from the AJHL club on the draft floor.

Fourth overall pick Cale Makar (Colorado) and fifth round selection Parker Foo (Chicago) earned the call from the Bandits camp in 2017.

Swedish defensive sensation Rasmus Dahlin was the top pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, selected first overall by the Buffalo Sabres.
