MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat U10 Thunder are having a strong season in their first year of competitive softball.

The team, primarily made up of players from the Little League ranks, have been rolling through many of the other teams in the area.

Earlier this month, they played in a 10 team tournament in Moose Jaw, where they demolished every team to become A-final champions.

“The first two games were close games, and the girls kind of fed off of it by winning those games,” said Shawn Dennison, the head coach of the Thunder. “The momentum just carried on.”

Dennison says they’re hoping to continue carrying the momentum into U10 Provincials next week.

“So far, they seem pretty loose and confident because of the weekend (tournament), but I’m sure when we get there, there will be some nerves,” he said. “There’s 19 teams in this tournament, so I bet when they get there, and see how big this tournament is, there will be nerves.”

“But, hopefully, we will settle in and do what we’ve got to do.”

Provincials runs on June 30th and July 1st in Calgary. The Thunder play the Calgary Narwhals in the first game of the tournament.
