OVER THE PHONE: Tigers Ryan Chyzowski ready for 2018 NHL Entry Draft

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — He’s anxious, yet thrilled at the prospect of potentially hearing his name called at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Medicine Hat Tigers forward Ryan Chyzowski is calm and cool on the surface, but says there are many emotions flowing through his mind ahead of professional hockey’s annual picking regime.

The Kamloops, B.C. product is coming off a stand-out campaign in Orange and Black, improving his point total from 12 as a rookie in 2016/17 to 52 (21 goals, 31 assists) as a second-year centerman.

A sizable 6’1″, 180 lbs. stature doesn’t hurt either, racking up 28 penalty minutes for the Central Division Champion Tabbies.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports called up Chyzowski to hear his thoughts heading into the final few days ahead of the draft, how his family heritage could help his stock value, and ways a recent trip to Toronto Maple Leafs headquarters is motivating him to work towards a life of professional hockey.

The 1st Round of this year’s selection goes Friday night at 5:30 p.m. MST from American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX. The remaining rounds are rolled through on Saturday.
