Medicine hat fire services is warning residents about someone calling claiming to be a firefighter and asking for donations, saying they are raising money for charity.

“We talked to those folks and luckily they hadn’t given any money, sent any cheques anywhere, or given any credit card information,” said Fire Chief Brian Stauth.

“Neither the Medicine Hat Fire Department or the Medicine Hat Firefighters Association, is doing any kind of telephone soliciting and we don’t do that,” he explained.
