MEDICINE HAT, AB — Premier Rachel Notley has announced minor changes to her cabinet.

Brian Malkinson, the MLA for Calgary-Currie, has been named the new Minister of Service Alberta, while Danielle Larivee has been named Minister of Status of Women.

Both portfolios were held by MLA Stephanie McLean, who will not be seeking re-election next year to focus on her law career.

In addition to her new portfolio, Larivee will remain Minister of Children’s Services, a position she has held since 2017. She was previously the Minister of Municipal Affairs from October 2015 to January 2017, before being replaced by Shaye Anderson

During a news conference following the swearing-in ceremony, Notley announced the Associate Minister of Health portfolio, held by Brandy Payne, has been eliminated from her cabinet. In April, Payne announced she will not be seeking re-election in 2019.
