MEDICINE HAT, AB —A Medicine Hat woman who pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the death of her husband nearly two years ago had her sentencing adjourned until August.

The sentencing hearing for Barbara Holmes was scheduled for Friday morning, but the court is still waiting on a pre-sentence report to be completed.

The 53-year-old was originally charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of her husband, John, on June 17th, 2016.

She pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the first day of her trial in April.

An agreed statement of facts revealed John was stabbed 17 times by Barbara in their home on Robinson Drive.

Her sentencing has been rescheduled to August 13th.
